art in the airport program launch
and pre-security lobby commissions
bill and hillary clinton national airport

The Art in the Airport Program at Clinton National Airport (LIT) in Little Rock showcases Arkansas’ natural beauty and unique culture through art. Via helped develop this program for the airport, beginning with facilitating a series of conversations with regional arts leaders and airport staff to develop recommendations for the role and composition of a newly formed Art Advisory Committee, priority project locations, and artist selection and commissioning processes.

We also helped commission the airport’s first two permanent public artworks Over an Arkansas Sky – a 4,000 square foot terrazzo floor designed by Tiffany Black – and a wall installation Tales of the Land: A Metaphorical Topography by June Sekiguchi. For these projects, completed in 2021 for the newly renovated pre-security lobby, we helped define the art opportunities, managed the artist selection process, worked with the artists, airport architects and contractors through fabrication and installation, and helped develop promotional and educational content, including a press event, artist talks, website content, and onsite signage.

We continue to advise the program, including helping airport staff facilitate the Airport Art Committee and further developing opportunities for the Art Program.
