National Landing in Arlington, Virginia is in the midst of a dynamic and exciting transformation. Immediately adjacent to Washington, DC, this mixed-use district is undergoing an unprecedented level of public and private investment. As part of an overarching effort to elevate its public spaces, the National Landing Business Improvement District (BID) hired Via to develop a Placemaking Toolkit. The Toolkit is designed to empower the BID’s partners to work with the BID to deliver vibrant, authentic, and inclusive public spaces that reflect a shared vision for National Landing’s transformation.

We worked closely with the National Landing BID staff, the BID Board and key stakeholders to develop this resource, conducting extensive stakeholder engagement and researching best practices from thriving districts across the country. The Toolkit provides a step by step process and plenty of inspiration that will spark collaborations and bring National Landing’s placemaking vision to life.
