t-mobile center public art commission

With its playful energy and bold movement, The Moons by Chris Doyle beckons to pedestrians and drivers passing along Grand Avenue. The artwork, created for the T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center) Arena in downtown Kansas City, consists of three 10-foot circular LED screens suspended over a series of micro-gardens in a plaza. The screens, which run 24 hours a day, feature videos that change with the seasons and depict more than 600 people from Kansas City “flying.”  Via worked with the Kansas City Municipal Arts Commission to facilitate the selection of Chris Doyle through an open call to artists and guided the jury process for this $1.3 million public art project that has become a signature piece in the City’s collection.
